BALTIMORE, Maryland (Reuters) – Luke Scott blasted a grand slam home run on Friday to lift the Baltimore Orioles to a crushing 7-2 victory over the visiting Detroit Tigers .

Scott's third inning homer gave the Orioles a 5-0 lead and an easy win for rookie starter Brad Bergesen who allowed just two runs in eight innings.

Scott finished 3-for-3 and added another homer in the fifth to give him five home runs from his last three games, as the Orioles (23-26) cruised to their fifth straight victory.

Rookie Matt Wieters went 0-for-4 at the plate in his much-anticipated Major League debut , but the 6-foot-5 switch-hitting catcher called the game from behind the plate for Bergesen.
